Pressure Cooker Crio Bru in a Jar is the perfect gift for the chocolate lovers in your life

Drinkable chocolate mix in a jar, that's actually good for you!  What is this sorcery!?  It's my true love Crio Bru, and now you can buy a big bag of Crio and divvy it up into jars for all your favorite people.  MERRY CHOCOLATE CHRISTMAS!

If you've followed my blog here for more than a month (or a day), you know I LOVE my Crio Bru.  If you don't know what Crio Bru is, head over to this Basic Crio Bru recipe for all the details.  But basically, it is roasted, ground cocoa beans, that can be brewed and drunk (drank?  Having grammar doubts on this one) similar to how coffee is.

Dry Crio Bru ingredients layered in a jar

Except it's not coffee at all!  So you can gift it to anyone (assuming they like chocolate, which if they don't, what the . . .)  and know it's safe for anyone to drink it, including pregnant women and children!

There's a few different ways to rock this gift

  1. Layer it with sugar as I did in the picture.  This whole jar makes 16 cups of Crio which is a double batch according to my Basic Crio Recipe
  2. Layer it with coconut sugar for a more natural sweetener alternative
  3. Add your ingredients and shake it all up then instruct to add 2 cups milk, 6 cups water, and 1 cup of Crio Bru mix for a single batch
  4. Layer it in a half pint jar for a single batch serving
  5. Make your own flavor!  Add cinnamon, cayenne, vanilla extract, dried mint, etc

Anyway you do it, it's heaven in a cup.  Seriously, I have no desire to go a single day without this good stuff.

PS:  Those pretty black flecks in the sugar?  That's vanilla sugar!  Yum!  Read more on how to make that here

Ingredients

For a pint size Mason jar

  • 1 cup Crio Bru – any flavor
  • 1 cup white sugar (can substitute with coconut sugar)

To be added later

  • 12 cups water
  • 4 cups Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

Instructions

For the Mason Jar

  1. Layer ingredients in a Mason jar in the following order: 1/2 cup Crio Bru, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup Crio Bru, 1/2 cup sugar.
  2. Top it with a lid and be careful not to shake it up if you want the layered look.

Include the following directions with the jar

  1. Add contents of jar to pressure cooker pot.  Add 12 cups water and 4 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk.   Secure the lid and turn pressure release knob to a sealed position.  Cook at high pressure for 5 minutes.
  2. When cooking is complete, use a natural release for 10 minutes and then release any remaining pressure.
  3. Place a fine mesh sieve over a bowl and pour Crio Bru through the sieve to filter out the grounds.  Be careful!  The Crio Bru will be VERY hot.
  4. Serve immediately or pour into 4 quart size mason jars, top with a lid and store in the refrigerator.  Enjoy cold or pour into a microwave safe mug and warm for 1-2 minutes.

I am not a creative tagger… hopefully that isn’t a qualification for the giveaway! ;-). I’m going with (Crio) bru up some fun this holiday season! Yes. I’m cringing too.

I’ve never had this but it sounds so yummy!!! It looks so much cuter than cookies in a jar that sit in the back of my pantry ????. I’ll be making these and leaving them on neighbors doorsteps

Preparing a gift package for a precious friend and will include a jar made as you have made! Plus, it’s good to have variety for my own use. I purchased a variety pack from Amazon after your first post but forget to use it. It will be fun to have a jar ready to use sitting on my counter. Thanks for the great ideas and please keep them coming!
